About the Course

Oregon requires ATV Safety Education for all riders operating Class I (quads), Class III (off-road motorcycles), and Class IV (SxS if under 16) ATVs on land open to public ATV use.

Once the online course has been successfully completed:

Operators 16 and over — will receive a permanent safety card by mail within 30 days. In the meantime, you can print a temporary 30-day card.

Youth operators under 16will receive an “Instructional Permit” (aka Certificate of Completion) that is good for 180-days so the youth can gain riding experience and familiarity with the vehicle under the supervision of a parent or guardian. The youth can then proceed to take a hands-on training or evaluation course which is required to receive a permanent safety card.
